Kevin grew up in Springville, Utah, and graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature, and a minor in Latin and Botany. He began his career as a project superintendent for WW Clyde & Co., a heavy-highway contractor building highways, bridges, dams, and tunnels in many Utah places, including Moab. Kevin changed careers in 1990 and became Headmaster of Meridian School, a liberal arts school in Provo, Utah, for students from pre-K 3 through high school where he worked for ten years. In 1999 he moved to Hawaii to be the Chief Operating Officer of the National Tropical Botanical Garden in Lawai, Kauai. NTBG is a tropical research garden specializing in plant conservation and pharmacological exploration throughout the South Seas. In 1995, with the help of a grand crew, Kevin started Grand Rental Center in Moab and operated it for twenty-seven years. He retired in 2022 and now serves as the “mow-man” and compost turner for the Easy Bee. He likes the title of helper at WabiSabi.
